The Ibanez ICHI10-VWM Vintage White Matte is the supremely confident debut signature model from Japanese internet-based guitar guru, Ichika Nito. Throughout his series of super-short YouTube clips and thanks to a flair for witty titles, Nito has built a giant following on the strength of his highly-technical playing style and ability to experiment with alternative tunings to create something that's entirely his own. More than a million followers later, it's no surprise that Ibanez have granted him his debut signature model. The Ibanez ICHI10 comes complete with its very own gig bag.

The Ibanez ICHI10-VMW: Deep Thought Design

Keeping the weight as low as possible, the nyatoh body of the ICHI10 has been kept as shallow as possible and finished with deep and ergonomic contouring. The three-piece roasted maple and bubinga neck was hand selected by Ichika himself for its extreme level of stability and the superbly snug feel of the Wizard C profile is a no-brainer. Meanwhile, the roasted birdseye maple fretboard adds a touch of exotic class while still keeping things sleek and neutral and adding a sweetly balanced attack and rich layer of sustain to the foundation sound, and the highly durable set of 24 Jescar EVO Gold frets are another great bonus, adding a bright tonal accent and supporting smooth bends.

No Head, No Worries

The bulk of the headstock has been completely removed and what's left has been fitted with a custom string lock: a smart system that's easy to use, requires very little maintenance, and conveniently, takes standard strings. At the other end of the ICHI10 sits a Mono-Tune bridge that boasts an insanely broad intonation range to ensure pure pitch, even in alternative tunings, and since the saddles have very little mass, you're also set up with an organic sound that blends the natural character of this guitar with the nuances of your particular playing style.

Fierce and Versatile Sound

Ibanez have suitably loaded the ICHI10-VWM with three passive alnico single-coils. These R1 pickups are specially designed for headless guitars and lay down a balanced tone with powerful basses that are never too muddy while the trebles are bright and clear without getting too shrill. This setup has been coupled with the dyna-MIX8 system and an Alter Switch which can be flipped to place the single-coils in series for a more humbucker-flavoured output. This totals up to no less than eight different tone profiles and completes a fiercely versatile and comfortable instrument.
