As the name suggests, this snare is made of steel, a material that's known for its unique sound properties. Yamaha Recording Custom Stainless Steel 14 x 5.5-inch snare drum
For the best possible resonance, the shell is 1.2mm thick and both sides have bearing edges at a 45-degree angle. This ensures optimal contact between the shell and the drum head so the snare has space to resonate freely. The 2.3mm Dyna Hoops contribute to the clear sound and ensure stable tuning as well.
Versatile character
This snare drum offers an open, distinct sound with a wide tonal range, making it just as ideal for jazz as it is for rock or reggae. It's great as either a main or a side snare for all-round drummers.
