Known as the driving beat behind Metallica, the biggest Heavy Metal band in the world, he's also kept fairly busy for years now, working closely alongside Tama. Whether you're just wrapping your hands around a set of sticks for the first time, or you've been permanently glued to them for years already, you'll notice that this snare does exactly what you'd expect it to: make ears bleed. The 3mm thick steel shell is armoured with a layer of diamond plate and measures 14 by 6.5-inches, so it can be seen as a fairly standard sized snare. In terms of sound, this snare projects with formidable attack supported an incredibly fat low-end, which is definitely owed in part to the galvanised Tama Die-Cast tension hoops, and the snare-strainer switches off with a smooth action, so that you can achieve that renowned Ulrich sound.
