Where most digital pianos have a dark finish, the Yamaha Arius YDP-162C Light Cherry digital piano offers a light cherrywood finish that's ideal for a light interior space. As far as performance goes, with this piano you can enjoy the realistic attack provided by Yamaha's Graded Hammer Touch technology, and keys with synthetic ivory tops. You can even adjust the touch sensitivity to work optimally with your own power and style. Of course, the sound of the piano is the most important aspect, and the sounds on this piano have been recorded from Yamaha's own CF3S concert grand piano - a very valuable instrument with a matching price tag. This YDP-162C is the big brother of the YDP-142C and has a slightly larger cabinet and two 20W speakers (instead of 6W), to provide a much fuller, warmer sound with more volume.

Additional features

The YDP-162C contains ten sounds, comprised of three organs, two electric pianos, a harpsichord, a vibraphone, two organs and strings. You have the option of playing two sounds simultaneously, such as vibraphone and organ, piano and strings, or any combination you wish. Additionally, you can adjust the reverb to make it sound as if you're playing in a concert hall, and you can record it all with the built-in recorder. Finally, enjoy playing this piano in duo mode, which divides the keyboard into two sides, each with their own middle C.

Digital pianos: are they really that great?

Yes! And the further technology advances, the bigger and more resounding that "yes" becomes. Of course decades ago matters were different - lower quality, less expression. Luckily these days a digital piano is an excellent alternative to a real piano.
