Tama's years of experience as a manufacturer of drum kits clearly shines through in their Imperialstar series, as they've taken elements from their Silverstar, Superstar and Starclassic series and successfully combined them into one series of affordable drum kits. Therefore, this five-piece kit has many premium features, making it well suited for both beginners and more advanced players. Furthermore, this set comes with everything you want out of a drum kit, like the Meinl MCS cymbal set and the Tama stands to place them on. Even an Iron Cobra bass drum pedal and Tama drum throne are included.

Tama IP50H6-HBK Imperialstar 5-piece drum kit: fusion configuration

The Imperialstar kit in Hairline Black comes in a fusion configuration. This means it consists of a 20 x 18-inch bass drum, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9-inch toms, a 14 x 14-inch floor tom and a 14 x 5-inch snare. All shells are made of 7.5mm-thick, 6-ply poplar, giving them a warm sound with nicely emphasised lows. The special Tama Precision Bearing Edges give the shells a rich, open resonance and great response. Meanwhile, the special Imperialstar lugs and even the Hairline Black wrap help enhance the shells' tone, as the latter has been glued to the entirety of the shells, giving them a sleek, stylish look to boot.

Cymbals and hardware

Included, you'll find a three-piece cymbal pack from the well-known Meinl company, which includes a pair of hi-hat cymbals, a crash and a ride. You can mount these cymbals on the three included stands. These stands (straight, boom and hi-hat) are durable and easy to use. The toms will feel right at home on Tama's tried-and-true tom mounting system, which is easy to adjust, but also provides the toms with plenty of stability, while allowing them to resonate freely. The special Accu-Tune bass drum hoops are also very reliable, and they make sure your bass drum stays in tune for much longer. The sturdy drum throne will keep you comfortable behind the kit.
