By serving up the Catalina Club Series shells, Gretsch prove that traditional configurations and a classic sound go perfectly well with modern hardware. The foundation of this CT1-J484 set is made up of 7-ply mahogany shells for a warm, full sound, making for the most compact configuration in the Series including an 18 x 14" bass drum with riser, a 12 x 8" tom, a 14 x 14" floortom and a 14 x 5" snare. These Gloss Antique Burst-finished shells cover not only jazz but numerous other styles and since they're nice and small, can be used for smaller gigs and rehearsals as well.

To pull the last bit of balanced tone out of the mahogany, each shell is fitted with a 30° bearing edge for optimal contact between the shell and the included Remo drumheads. The Mini-GTS suspension system along with a set of little lugs allow the tom to resonate freely while, thanks to the tom holder with ball joint, the tom can be accurately set at any desired angle. Since it's a double tom holder too, you can easily add a second tom or cymbal arm (7/8" tube diameter) later on in the future.
