Shure's GLX-D14 - SM35 wireless system is part of the digital GLX-D series, which uses the 2.4GHz band. It transmits over a range of 60 metres, and effectively reduces the chance of interference by means of the special LINKFREQ system, which automatically searches for an alternative frequency when necessary. The set includes a receiver with an XLR and a jack output, a transmitter (including battery) and an SM35 headset.

SM35: a cardioid headset

The SM35 headset that's part of this system has a flexible gooseneck construction, and is ideal for performers who sing while they play an instrument. It fits comfortably on your head, and features a durable microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern, making it relatively insensitive to background noise. That means you won't have to worry about other instruments leaking into your signal, and also reduces the chance of feedback considerably. Meanwhile, a microphone windshield counters wind and breath noise (plosives). The TA4F (TQG) connector is compatible with any standard Shure bodypack.

Shure GLX-D4 receiver and GLX-D1 transmitter

The Shure GLX-D4 is a digital receiver that features a number of state-of-the-art functions. Take the LINKFREQ system, for instance, which automatically (and continuously) searches for an available frequency. A clear, well-organised display tells you all you need to know about the current frequency and the remaining battery life of your GLXD1 bodypack transmitter. The latter is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery that allows you to perform or present for up to sixteen consecutive hours. Did you forget to recharge the battery? No need to panic - a quick, 15-minute charging session provides it with enough juice to keep going for another hour and a half.
