Devotees of Austrian designed microphones have already heard the legend of the CK12. While the Austrian Audio OC18 is loaded with the same capsule, this slight upgrade comes with a low-cut filter and pad. The filter means that any rumbling caused by contact vibrations stand little chance of affecting the signal quality of the OC18, while the pad makes this mic able to take on high-output instruments like acoustic drum kits. The strength of Austrian Audio's strict quality control is evident, not only in the hand-built Viennese ceramic capsule, but in the assurance that two of these condensers form a matched pair. And, if you pick up the more extensive OC818 and couple it with this mic, you can happily use them as a stereo pair.
