The Alesis VI49 USB MIDI controller is a great all-rounder for your studio. Equipped with 49 semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch, this MIDI controller serves as a relatively compact solution for the many plug-ins and virtual instruments that are issued on an almost weekly basis. Do you need to create some drum parts? No problem, thanks to 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads, which are backlit in various colours.

Naturally, the familiar pitch-bend and modulation wheels are present on the VI49, in addition to 12 assignable knobs and 36 assignable buttons that allow for great hands-on control of your plug-ins. Traditional transport buttons facilitate the interaction with your DAW, while the octave shift buttons enable you to shift the available octaves of the keyboard, allowing you to include instruments with a considerably high or low pitch, such as piccolo and double bass, as well.

Fijne gewogen toetsen en veel mogelijkheden voor mapping. Het is een fijn apparaat om te gebruiken voor Ableton. Vooraf veel opmerkingen gelezen dat Ableton het product niet herkende en dat het veel moeite kost om het te configureren, maar in de nieuwste versie van Ableton wordt ie gewoon herkend en kan je direct beginnen met spelen.
De drum-pads hadden wat mij betreft wat beter gekund. Je moet redelijk hard drukken om de percussive's goed te horen. Daarnaast gebruik ik de knoppen bovenin (op de draai knoppen na) ook nog niet echt.
Maar al met al een goed product qua prijs en kwaliteit!
