Ferrofish Pulse 16 AD/DA ADAT converter

Allmänt

The Ferrofish Pulse 16 AD/DA ADAT converter is designed specifically for audio engineers in large-scale recording studios. With this device, you can convert sixteen analogue audio sources to ADAT and back again. This means you can connect sixteen mic sources to your mixing console and send them to the Pulse 16 via the record or aux outputs of the console. All this happens digitally, of course, so the audio can be sent to your audio interface (with ADAT inputs) without any problems and ready to use in your DAW. The other way around is a possibility too - you can also send ADAT audio source information to the Pulse 16 and turn it into analogue signals!

Features of the Ferrofish Pulse 16

The Pulse 16 has four ADAT I/O modules. Considering that ADAT normally has eight tracks, this would mean that 32 ADAT tracks might be possible, but the SMUX technology used in this device limit that number to sixteen, but with a sample rate of 96 kHz! That's the idea behind SMUX (or S/MUX, sample multiplexing): sacrificing channels to give the de remaining channels the chance to operate on a a higher bandwidth. High signal quality is what sets the Pulse 16 apart from other converters on the market, as well as its jitter reduction feature.

Everything in a rack

On top of everything else, the Ferrofish fits nicely in a 19-inch rack unit. On the rear, there are 32 jack connections, the four ADAT I/O's, BNC I/O and even MIDI I/O, which has been included for an external controller. On the front panel, there's a clear full-colour display that shows all 32 channels. In short, it's a professional device that large-scale studios are sure to appreciate!
