Allmänt
The 100% handmade Hangam is a singular instrument developed by Cologne based drum and percussion producers, Majid Drums. Essentially based on a handpan, the Hangam is made entirely of wood. Seven 1mm thick playing surfaces are shared across the panels that make up the unique hexagonal form. The centre surface delivers a kick-drum-style sound when struck and one of the side-mounted playing surfaces serves as a snare and comes fitted with adjustable and removable snare wires.
The Hamgam by Majid Drums
The rest of the playing surfaces kind of serve as a set of toms, high-pitch congas or bongos and combine with the snare and kick-esque sounds to produce something that would not sound amiss accompanying a handpan, tongue drum or urdu. Besides the snare, every playing surface can be tweaked and tuned by shifting removable magnets across the surface, offering a surprisingly wide tonal range. The two attached blocks that can be seen on the sides are called Kaskaritas and are comparable to castanets; ideal for adding classic percussive accents. The Hangam weighs 5kg (not that much when you remember that it's made of solid wood), thankfully comes with a form-fitting gig-bag and can be set on its very own anti-slip mat to play.

Bax Music denkt met je mee !
Hamgam Majid drum gekocht !!
Ik had bij Bax music geïnformeerd naar de Hamgam Majid drum. Deze is nergens op voorraad leverbaar en heeft een wachttijd van 21 weken.
In de mail had ik gevraagd of Bax mij wilde laten weten zodra zij een Hamgam kunnen leveren. Ik kreeg direct antwoord dat zij mij op de hoogte zouden houden en 2 weken later was het bingo. Ik kon een Hamgam van Majid bestellen!!!
Even overwogen om hem voor een periode te huren, maar nadat ik goed overleg heb gehad met de verkoper heb ik toch besloten te kopen, 2 dagen later had ik hem in huis.
