Hughes & Kettner are well known for their popular and innovative guitar amplifiers and the Black Spirit 200 amplifier head is another model that breaks new ground. That's partly due to its bionic Spirit Tone Generator that recreates the dynamics and characteristic sound of various tube amplifiers, but does so using a fully analogue circuit. Thanks to the Power Amp Sagging control you can determine how much creaminess and growl you want in your sound too, no matter the volume level. Something that makes this amp head even more versatile is the fact that it can be directly connected to almost anything in addition to guitar cabinets.

Black Spirit: four versatile channels and switchable power

If you like a raw edge to your sound, then the lead and ultra channels are sure to bring you endless hours of playing pleasure. The crunch channel takes things down a notch, while the clean channel offers nothing short of pristine tones. All this gives you a wide range of sounds that are suitable for any music genre you can think of. The Black Spirit's versatility doesn't stop there either. With a total of 200 watts of power on board, this amplifier head is ready to rock the world's biggest stages! When you're not doing that though, you'll probably want slightly less power so it's good to know that the Black Spirit can easily be switched to 20 watts or 2 watts for smaller sized gigs, band rehearsals or even just practising at home instead.

Effects, app and Red Box AE+

There are plenty of built-in effects including reverb, delay and modulation (chorus, phaser, flanger, tremolo) as well as an FX loop so that you can add your own effects too. Once you've dialled in the perfect sound, you can save it to one of the 128 presets for instant recall whenever you need it. Buy the separately available FSM-432 MK III footswitch and you can do this (and other things) even more easily. If you own an iPad, you can use the Black Spirit 200 remote app to create, edit, save and share all of your favourite sounds via Bluetooth. Naturally, you can also use Bluetooth to stream music to the amp head from another device and jam along. The Red Box AE+ makes it easy to connect the Black Spirit directly to equipment like a mixer, a PA or a recording device via the XLR output and it even offers 8 speaker cabinet emulations to choose from. All this comes in a stylishly-designed compact housing that weighs just 3.6 kg!
