Schecter Damien-8 Multiscale Electric Guitar Satin Black
Allmänt
In the tight form of the Damien-8, Schecter serve up an attainable and tameable eight-string monster complete with multiscale fretboard and carved top. The mahogany body comes dipped in a classic, light-eating matte-black paint-job, while the bolt-on maple neck has been fitted with an absolutely flat 20 inch radius rosewood fretboard finished with position markers that track the flight of bats in inlaid pearloid. To retain a tight feel along the length of the lower tuned strings, the multiscale neck moves from 25.5 inches at the underside to 27.5 inches at the upper side. Polished off by a full set of twenty-four fanned frets, this model is nothing short of a modern shredder's dream.
Comfy Playability & Flawless Note Definition
The neck has been given a mega-thin C-profile carve to supply incredibly light and fluid playability that feels so natural, you might actually forget just how singular this solid-bodied eight-string is. The mounted pair of Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers lend the perfect amount of weight and flawless definition to the output to pull out every note, and can be split via the push-pull volume and tone pots to double the range of tonal profiles and double the fun. Bearing a level of tonal elasticity that could easily inspire vertigo, the Schecter Damien-8 is a ruthless face-melter of a guitar.

Needed a setup out of the box but I was able to lower the individual hipshot bridge saddles to get very low action with next to no fret buzz. I'm talking 1.3mm on the lowest string and around 1.5mm on the top. I haven't even bothered trying to go lower because it's so comfortable to play. Neck was straight enough out of the box no truss rod adjustment was needed.
Guitar is surprisingly light for mahogany body, the neck has the same smooth matt finish as the body of the guitar and feels amazing to use.
Stock pickups (diamond heretic) I was planning on replacing but these are actually decent sounding. They are pretty hot so you need very little gain and they still sound clear yet heavy, took me awhile to get them sounding good though as this is my first time with schecter pickups - in my case a matter of messing around with EQ/pedals and finding the right balance.
Only downside is if you want active pickups, standard soapbar ones like EMG and Fishman fluence are not going to fit without routing out the cavities to make room as they are shaped for specific angled multiscale pickups so the poles line up with the strings. I'm a bit bummed out by this but the guitar feels so amazing to use I couldn't send it back over that, there are alternatives out there.
