Fierce and elegant, the Japanese Prestige Series Ibanez RG5170B electric guitar has far more under the hood than just impeccable build-quality and good looks. The subtly contoured RG basswood body, neck binding, and gold-plated hardware are definitely good looking, but its the thoughtfully snug shaping of the contours; the five-piece wenge and maple, Super Wizard HP profiled neck; and the carefully rounded and smoothed ends of the 24 stainless-steel jumbo frets that really seal the deal.

The RG5170B: Fishman Fluence Pickups

The renowned mid-rich foundation sound of this Ibanez RB model has been given some fitting 21st Century-style power-ups in the form of three active Fishman Fluence pickups. Mounted in an HSH configuration and supported by a voicing switch as well as a five-way selector switch, this set-up delivers the tight, modern sound and active or passive attack of the ceramic bridge humbucker, and the fully active or azure tonal clarity of the double-coil alnico neck pickup. Then, for that classic three-single-coil ST-style mid-voicing, complete with a vintage edge or muscular Texas-style sound without any of the hum, Ibanez have placed a Single Width Ceramic sign-coil in the middle. This superb instrument comes including a deluxe hard-shell case.
