There's only one manufacturer that makes the real, often imitated, Stratocaster, and that is Fender. This Fender American Standard Stratocaster is the latest version of this classic guitar. These electric guitars offer the same great sound, look and comfortable playability as the previous Strats but with some improvements and extras, as you'll read about below. This American Standard has a dark brown rosewood fretboard that provides a slightly darker, more treble-rich tone than its maple counterpart, as well as a beautiful 3-colour Sunburst finish. Included with this guitar are a durable SKB case, a guitar cable, guitar strap and a polishing cloth.

The even bigger sound of the Standard Strat

The Fender American Standard Stratocaster features three clear single-coil pickups, but not just any pickups; these Custom Shop Fat '50s really do their name justice as they provide a deliciously fat, vintage sound along with some other important advantages. The Fat '50s pickups deliver a higher output than the classic alnico 5 single coils with slightly more bass and a clear midrange. The reverse-wound middle pickup ensures hum-free mid positions. Additionally, the synthetic parts of the already pretty Strat have been given an aged appearance for a beautiful vintage look.

American Standard Stratocaster: modern improvements

The Strat has been virtually unaltered since its introduction in 1954, but Fender have kept it up-to-date, providing the neck of the American Standard Stratocaster with 22 medium jumbo frets, a two-way Truss Rod and a flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius. The vintage-style tremolo bridge is also modernised with just two mounting points so that the guitar retains its tuning better. New friction-free steel bridge saddles and a solid steel block add more tone and sustain and the staggered machine heads allow for optimal pressure on the top saddle without the need for a second string guide, so there is less friction and a more stable tuning.
