The popular Swedish company, Propellerhead, has expanded their Reason line up with the release of their Reason 9.5 production software. Thanks to its ease of use and integrated functionality, this package has been getting lots of attention since the release of the very first version back in 2000. You'll find that the time stretcher in the sequencer portion of the software has been improved in version 9.5. If you fancy travelling around in new worlds of interesting sounds, then you're sure to be pleased with the 1000 new sounds in this release! The software has also been given a makeover, and now you can choose a visual theme to suit your mood and style.
Players in Reason 9.5
While Reason 9.5 of course has regular bug fixes and small new things here and there, the new Players really take front and centre in this release. These new types of racks aren't geared toward virtual instruments, but rather MIDI data (the notes you play). The Dual Arpeggiator has a pattern mode for creating polyrhythmic patterns, which opens up the possibilities for making mock-ups on the fly, almost like you're playing the keyboard. The Note Echo feature is a MIDI delay that allows you to change the strength and the pitch at the start of the echo, for instance. Scales & Chords is a fun new feature too; you indicate the key (e.g. C major) and the effect makes sure everything stays neatly within that key.
The story of Reason
There are tons of DAW packages out there with all of the possibilities you could imagine. It's not always easy to find your way, but Reason offers a ready-made way: the Reason way. It's a total solution that gives you all kinds of virtual synthesizers and effects that you can then combine. Simply put, Reason makes it possible to turn your musical ideas into a complete mixed finished product, without you having to add extra products to the process. Propellerhead has been successfully promoting this formula since December of 2000, when the first version of Reason came out.
VST support
As well as new sounds, Reason has also been given updated ReFills. Reason-users everywhere have expressed a wish for VST support, and the software designers have finally complied in version 9.5. With it, you can gain access to an immense library of software that is free as well as commercial. Professionals have been working with these virtual instruments for years, and now you can too!

Voor je dit koopt moet je weten:
- peopellerheads gaat later ooit een aanbieding hebben waardoor jouw aanschaf niks meer waard is.
- je kunt rack extensions en refills niet doorverkopen.
Dus reken erop dat je je zuur verdiende geld helemaal zelf aan plezier/productiviteit eruit haalt.
De beste DAW allertijden!!!!
Goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding!
Erg goede DAW, goedkoper dan Ableton en gemakkelijk te begrijpen.
Na activatie van Reason via codemaster gebruik ik zelf niet de automap(software), want ik wil de volledige contole hebben over mijn keyboard en niet dat het voor mij beslist word, maar dat is voor een iedere gebruiker anders...
Ik gebruik zelf de Novation 49SL MKii als keyboard onder Reason.
Verder kun je oneindig veel instrumenten creëeren van de bijgeleverde soundpack op cd
al met als een goede DAW waar jarenlang muziek mee gemaakt kan worden

Wat een verademing! Het zwitsers zakmes onder de DAW's.
Ik bezit Reason, Cubase, Ableton & Fruity Loops, maar niets werkt zo plezierig en direct als Reason.
Met het grootste gemak ontdek je de eindeloze mogelijkheden binnen Reason. En dat is ook gelijk mijn valkuil, door de eindeloze mogelijkheden betrap ik mijzelf er regelmatig op dat ik meer aan het experimenteren en uitproberen ben welke mogelijkheden werken, dan dat ik rechtstreeks op mijn doel en taak afga. Om dan nog maar niet te spreken over de talloze samples en patches die meegeleverd worden in de vorm van Factory SoundBanks en Refills.
De ingebouwde devices zijn, voor de gemiddelde trance/dance/edm programmeur zoals ikzelf, meer als voldoende om de komende 5 jaar uit de voeten te kunnen. De Neptune Pitch Adjuster is fantastisch. Het veranderd in realtime je sample/vocals van 'het past net niet' naar 'Fits Perfectly!'.
VSTs laden kan wat lastig zijn, zeker als je geen DAW's gebruikt en dus nog geen VSTs op je werkstation hebt gebruikt. Maar eenmaal duidelijk, is het ook kinderspel. Al waren er enkele VSTs die niet zichtbaar werden in Reason. Mogelijk door een verouderde versie van de VST zelf.
Het is 1 van de meer betaalbare DAW's op de markt, echter, in mijn optiek ook 1 van de betere. Het analoge gevoel wat je krijgt binnen Reason is ongeëvenaard. Het zelf kunnen 'steken van kabels' geeft zeer sterk het gevoel dat je met geluidsapparatuur bezig bent, als is het uiteindelijk gewoon virtueel.
Zoek je een nieuw speeltje om te experimenteren of wil je je muziek professioneler componeren? En alles daartussen in? Laat je dan niet afschrikken door de prijs... This is serious Bang! for your Buck!
PS:
Ik heb tot voor kort geleden nooit met echte analoge hardware mogen werken.
Voor het eerst kwam ik pasgeleden in een studio met hardwarematige synths, bassmasters, drumcomputers en effect processers. De studio eigenaar was verbaasd hoe snel ik connecties tussen de apparatuur 'onder de knie' had... Hahaha, Geleerd in Reason...
Zelfs om het rack heenlopen is makkelijker in Reason... (Press TAB to walk around the Rack :-))
