After his older brother took over as the head of the Zildjian company in 1981, Robert Zildjian founded a new company named after his three children, Sally, Bill and Andy (SaBiAn). Since then, Sabian has become one of the world's leading cymbal brands and enjoys a great reputation as one of the 'big four' of cymbal manufacturing, along with Zildjian, Paiste and Meinl.

Sabian Artisan 20-inch Crash Cymbal

First and foremost, this 20-inch Artisan crash cymbal exudes musicality. It has a beautiful dark tone and an even decay that ends with a satisfying shimmer. Twenty inches is quite sizeable for a crash, and that is immediately apparent from its sound. It still delivers a rich and broad sound, but that sound is darker, lower in pitch and more spacious than that of its smaller siblings. It has a relatively short sustain, as the initial attack quickly transitions into a shimmering wash that gently dies out. This Artisan crash is an extremely smooth sounding cymbal that is excellently suited for jazz and other styles that really allow this cymbals musicality to shine.
