The first picture might fool you, but the second one gives it away. With its frontplate the size of a hand, the Meinl SCAJ1NT-LB Mini Cajon is a fun little cajon. You might even call it cute! But don't underestimate it. This is a full-fledged musical instrument from the people at Meinl. It's very fun to play and not just a toy. Just like any pint-sized instrument, this mini cajon’s pitch is noticeably higher than that of its full-sized siblings. That's why this little guy could be an interesting addition to your percussion setup, even if you already own a full-sized cajon.

What is a cajon?
Historically speaking, it's a wooden box. Long ago, when African slaves were transported to South America by sea, the rations of food were stored in wooden crates and the slaves used these crates to make music. The modern-day cajon has its origins in Peru, where cajons have proven to be popular (and remarkably versatile) percussive instruments. And their popularity continues to rise, even on our side of the big pond, which is in large part because of the wide array of interesting accessories that has been created for it.

Es una buena compra siempre que no esperes el sonido de un cajón común. Buen tamaño para transporte, buen sonido aunque agudo. El golpeo debe ser más fuerte a la hora de tocar para sacarle los diferentes sonidos. Recomendable y buen precio.
Ik heb deze cajon onlangs in huis gehaald en ben er zeer enthousiast over. Ik ben nieuw in de wereld van cajons en wilde voor een zacht prijsje eens uitproberen of het iets voor mij was. Deze cajon is heel klein maar geeft echt een goed geluid. Hij is mooi en echt super stevig en robuust gebouwd!
Ik dacht aanvankelijk dat het lastig zou zijn om deze te bespelen omdat je op een normale cajon gaat zitten. Dit is niet zo handig met deze cajon maar ik bespeel hem meestal gewoon op mijn schoot. Je kan hem echter ook perfect tussen je knieën of dijen klemmen vermits hij daar meer dan stevig genoeg voor is.
Het geluid is goed, je hebt niet de drie typische tonen van een gewone cajon. Je hebt een hogere toon en een lagere snare toon maar doordat deze cajon enorm gevoelig is, kan je door middel van het gebruik van je vingers een heel scala aan geluiden maken die je met een normale cajon niet kan maken. Ook de zijkanten geven een leuk effect.
De afwerking is magnifiek en zoals ik al zei is de stevigheid echt een enorm pluspunt.
Ik zou deze kleine cajon willen aanraden aan iedereen die twijfelt of percussie in het algemeen en cajons specifiek iets voor hem of haar is!

Erg schattig instrumentje. Ik hou er enorm van om veel verschillende simpele instrument te hebben en deze mini cajon leek mij een goede eerste stap richting de "drum wereld". Erg leuk instrument als je met vrienden aan het jammen bent om er zo bij te pakken. Hij is klein maar dat zorgt ook dat hij erg leuk staat naast mijn ukelele.
Het is wat moeilijk om de 3 klanken eruit te krijgen. Maar na even oefenen hoor je toch wel degelijk verschil. Hij maakt ondanks zijn grote nog een flink wat geluid (review van mijn moeder).
Leuk instrumentje voor erbij maar niet voor het serieuze werk. Maar dat was ook niet waar ik voor ging toen ik deze mini cajon koos.
