Channel Characteristics
With the 1642VLZ4, eight mono channels and four stereo channels are at your disposal. Two of those stereo channels also serve as microphone channels, as the mixer boasts a total of ten full-fledged Onyx preamps. Up to ten microphones can be connected by means of XLR connectors, and each of these channels has a 75Hz low-cut filter and a gain knob. The mono channels are all equipped with a three-band EQ with sweepable mids, while the stereo channels feature a four-band equalizer each, for precise tone control. Each of the mixer's channels can be assigned to one of two sub groups.
Connectors
On the right side of the Mackie 1642VLZ4's control panel, you'll find a master section with all the controls you need, including sub group and main faders, and a clear LED level meter. Separate control room and headphone controls provide you with plenty of monitoring options, and there are two headphone outputs to choose from. External equipment can be connected via stereo returns, enabling you to apply effects per channel. The 1642VLZ4's main output is transmitted via XLR or jack connectors, and it's even possible to connect a gooseneck mixer light, so you can effortlessly go about your business in the dark.
