Yamaha's FG830 AB steel-string guitar in Autumn Burst finish has a solid spruce top which contrasts nicely in look and tone with the chocolate-brown rosewood sides and back. This type of wood ensures a long sustain and rich overtones. Another luxurious detail in this guitar is the use of abalone in the sound hole rosette. All the guitars in Yamaha's FG series have been equipped with solid spruce tops for that distinctive, powerful sound.

The Yamaha FG steel-string guitars have been popular ever since they were launched about fifty years ago. An important factor for this success is the strict quality control Yamaha maintains as well as careful attention to the quality of the design and finish. The FG800 series feature some enhancements compared to the original series, including a scalloped bracing for improved bass and mid tones, a more slender neck and rolled fret edges for greater playing comfort.
