The most striking example could very well be the Teardrop, which is the unofficial name for the VOX Mark III electric guitar. Now that this wild instrument is finally in production again - and for an acceptable price at that - you'll doubtless be finding it in the collections of guitar enthusiasts everywhere.

The unique Salmon Red Mark III

The VOX Mark III (this is the Salmon Red version) might have looks that are a bit on the zany side, but its sound is actually quite traditional. Three single-coil pickups deliver the famous bright single-coil sound, and you can adjust the timbre via the 5-way pickup switch, tone and volume knobs, and the tremolo bridge. It's a great instrument for everything from blues and country to funk and rock, and it even comes with a case.

VOX Teardrop and Phantom

The unique design of the VOX Teardrop and Phantom guitars dates back to the early sixties and still captures the imagination today. It's no wonder that second-hand models sold for high prices in the long period that VOX wasn't producing these electric guitars. However, lucky for you, some time ago they came out with the comparable Apache series, and not long after that VOX brought out the Mark III and the Mark V, due to popular demand.
