Tama unites the classic with the modern in this 'one top, two down' rock configuration. The drum set consists of a 22 x 18-inch bass drum, a 12 x 7-inch tom and two floor toms, measuring 14 x 12 and 16 x 14 inches respectively. A great addition to this set is the MT1455DBN 14 x 5.5-inch Black Metalworks snare drum, which has a powerful, bright sound and a great dynamic range. The bass drum consists of seven plies and is 7 mm thick, which allows for a deep sound with excellent resonance and definition. The tom and the floor toms have a 6mm-thick shell and are made of six plies of birch, so they won't lag behind when it comes to resonance and definition.

Attention to detail and sound

A nice detail that Tama has paid attention to, is the way the toms are suspended. You'll receive a clamp, with which you can attach the tom to a cymbal stand, so that the tom is not in contact with the bass drum. This results in both a better sounding tom and bass drum. Generally, the sound of this drum set can be described as warm and clear. Considering the configuration, this drum kit is mostly angled towards the pop/rock drummer, but if you use the right heads and if you tune it properly, you can safely use it for almost any musical style. It may not surprise you to hear that Tama has once again taken great care in finishing the shells and that the hardware on those shells is as good as always.
