If you're looking for a high-quality shell set with excellent tonal properties, then the Tama Starclassic Performer Birch Bubinga series might just be your 'partner in rhythm'. This five-piece shell set consists of birch shells that have a few plies of bubinga applied to the inside. Bubinga is a strong African wood type that is on average 53% harder than maple and birch, which helps it emphasise the lower tones. Combined with the great attack provided by the birch, this hybrid kit, with its Black Silver Lining finish, delivers a fantastic sound.

This five-piece rock/fusion kit consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 10 and 12-inch toms (which are 6.5 and 7 inches deep, respectively) and 14 and 16-inch floor toms. The bass drum is what you'd call a 'virgin bass drum', which means it does not have a tom mount. Instead, you get two separate tom holders, that are easily attached to your cymbal stands. This doesn't just improve the resonance of the toms, but it also gives you more freedom to create the perfect set-up for this gorgeous drum kit. Additionally, a virgin bass drum will provide a more powerful low end.

Furthermore, this Starclassic Performer Birch Bubinga has zinc die-cast hoops, instead of the common triple-flanged hoops. These hoops don't just create a sharper attack and clear highs, but they also allow for more powerful rimshots and, more importantly, they make sure your tuning stays consistent.

Bass drum

The 22-inch bass drum is equipped with sturdy claw hooks that have a rubber lining, minimising the chance of them damaging the bass drum's hoops. Furthermore, the bass drum legs are Air Cushioned, which means that they have a special air chamber that prevents the sound and sustain of your bass drum from disappearing into the ground, while also being shock absorbing.
