The Meinl FMDJ5-L-F Mechanical Tuned Journey Series Djembe is a modern version of a traditional African instrument. This modernisation is apparent in the djembe's fibreglass shell and its synthetic drumhead. With these lightweight materials, the Journey Series djembe is easy to carry, as well as highly weather-resistant. The sound of the FMDJ5-L-F is a bit more aggressive than that of a wooden djembe. This particular model is relatively large in size, with its 24-inch depth and 12-inch diameter.
Sleek black design
For this djembe, Meinl chose to go with a natural black finish. Even the hooks, lugs and the protective rubber base are black. The white drumhead (complete with Meinl logo) gives the drum its overall elegant appeal. Of course, this djembe can be used for all kinds of music, making the FMDJ5-L-F a highly versatile instrument.
