The Mapex Black Panther Blaster drum set in Walnut Burst is a five-piece shell set (22 x 18, 10 x 8, 12 x 9, 14 x 14, 16 x 16) was the first in Mapex' Black Panther series of drum sets. This series stands out because of its careful selection and combination of shell material, design, hoops and drumheads. The result is an excellent drum set that is high-quality in both the visual and the sound department.

Maple and walnut shells

The traditionally thin maple shells are known for their warm sound. However, because of the walnut reinforcement ring that is attached to the inside of the shells, the rich undertones of the maple get some extra reinforcement, creating a unique, warm sound. The bearing edges are centred, optimising the contact between the shell and the drumhead and enhancing the shell's resonance.

Mapex Sonic Saver hoops

When it comes to their contribution to the sound of a drum, the hoops don't always get the credit they deserve. With this Black Panther Blaster, however, Mapex have put a lot of thought into them. The 2.3mm Mapex Sonic Saver hoops were developed especially for this series and help project the sound of the drums more clearly. Their unique profile helps you extend the lifespan of you sticks, while still allowing you to perform ear shattering rimshots. This is, without a doubt, a high-quality drum set.
