The Highway One series might just be the best value for money Fender has to offer. The instrument you see here is a Fender Highway One Jazz Bass with a transparent red Midnight Wine finish. This four-string electric bass guitar was made in America and is characterised by an extra thin matte nitrocellulose lacquer, which helps the body to resonate better. What's more, it wears off sooner, giving you that rugged relic look. This particular guitar was made in 2008 and is - apart from a small patch above the bridge pickup - as good as new! It comes with the original Fender gig bag, paperwork and tools.

Features of the 2008 Fender Highway One Jazz Bass

The Highway One is basically a great American Standard Jazz Bass with a solid alder body. The alder has a beautiful grain that is beautifully complemented by the transparent red lacquer. The neck of this guitar is made of maple and supports a 20-fret rosewood fretboard with a matte polyurethane lacquer for extra playing comfort. Internally, the neck is strengthened with graphite support rods so it can endure changes in temperature and humidity. It is the combination of wood types and great construction that results in a full, balanced tone with deep basses, punchy mids and clear trebles.

Greasebucket tone control

In order to authentically reproduce the characteristic Jazz Bass sound of the sixties, the Fender Highway One Jazz Bass Midnight Wine features vintage-style Alnico pickups. The two single-coils have their own separate volume control that allow you to whip out an array of sounds - ranging from a delightfully clear growl to a warm, sultry sound. The tone control boasts Fender's special Greasebucket circuit, which adds no low tones when you attenuate the higher ones. This means that the sound remains defined without becoming woolly. Additionally, the bridge is an incredibly stable solid Badass II with different grooves per saddle so you can adjust string spacing.
