Resonator guitars were originally designed to produce a high volume so that they could be used in combination with wind instruments and percussion. The distinctively loud sound with long sustain and brilliant trebles quickly became popular among bluegrass musicians. Delta-blues guitarists had also discovered the resonator and found it the perfect slide guitar. The Fender FR-50CE Resonator Sunburst - with cutaway - provides the same authentic looks and sound. The FR-50CE Resonator produces that unmistakable metal twang that, in combination with its chrome-finished resonator, makes it the ideal instrument for fans of blues and bluegrass. The sides and back of this Fender Resonator are made of laminated mahogany and the top is of flamed maple. These two wood types provide a rich, clear tone and an exceptional sound transference. This model has a cutaway, allowing you to reach even the highest frets with ease. The resonator itself is a single steel plate that resounds the sound as it were, providing a unique sound when sliding.
An especially unique feature of this particular guitar is that it is electro-acoustic. The FR-50CE is equipped with a Telecaster (Tele) neck pickup that, together with the Fishman Powerchip and the resonator, ensures for proper amplification of this guitar's powerful sound whether on stage or in the studio.

Round neck

Contrary to a square neck resonator guitar, that you play on your lap or on a table, the Fender FR-50CE features a neck with a round profile that allows you to comfortably play it while standing up, just like you would a normal guitar. Its neck is made of nato, a strong and durable type of wood, and features a rosewood (Sonokeling) fretboard with Snowflake inlays. The Split Micarta Saddle bridge provides a more uniform sound than the often used synthetic bone. A set of high-quality sealed self-lubricating machine heads, the legendary Fender logo on the headstock, the Fender F sound holes and its beautiful gloss polyurethane Sunburst finish fully complete this guitar.
