The N/D 478 by Electro Voice is a dynamic instrument microphone. It has an acoustic response that lends itself excellently to amplifying electric and acoustic instruments in the studio and on stage. Thanks to the VOB technology (Vocally-Optimized Bass), critically low frequencies are dampened for lows with less distortion. The result is a sound that is anything but muddy. You can expect only warmth, clarity and quality when you mix tracks from this mic.

Neodymium magnet

The capsule of this microphone is equipped with a neodymium magnet, which has a higher sensitivity and delivers a better signal-to-noise ratio. To be specific, that means that you get a quieter microphone that doesn't feedback as quickly. With this microphone, there's also talk of the proximity effect. This means that as the sound source gets closer to the microphone, the low frequencies are enhanced, producing a sound that is more robust with a higher output signal.
