In the early '60s, Fender started using the Blue Ajax capacitors in amplifiers. It soon turned out to be a huge success. By 1962, all Yellow caps were replaced by the Blue Ajax caps. These capacitors are made of Mylar, aluminium foil and wax and produce a genuinely bluesy sound. Fender amps from the '50s and '60s are still immensely popular, not because of their design per se, but because of their distinctive sound.
