String Machines were introduced in the seventies to give bands the opportunity to add a string section to their sound without having to pay thirty violinists to perform every night of the tour. Very quickly, these sonic hulks became popular with disco producers; found their way into instrumental music of the time - including that scribed by Vangelis, and onto film soundtracks, courtesy of composers like Francis Lai. Now, the Toontrack EZKeys String Machine puts that unmistakable sound beneath your mouse and keyboard by compiling actual recordings of the renowned Solina String Ensemble alongside a generous fistful of other legendary string machines from the era. Full of charm, and full of the notorious 'sizzle' of oscillators, this virtual instrument is made for the throwback fanatic, and since this is an EZKeys library, you also get a bunch of MIDI phrases to drop into a DAW and play around with.
