The Marshall DSL40CV Vintage is an all-valve guitar amplifier from the renewed 2012 Dual Super Lead (DSL) series. This limited-edition amp is a special Vintage model that has a classic Marshall look. The DSL40CV has two versatile channels (Classic Gain and Ultra Gain) that each have two modes for even more flexibility. Toggling between the channels is easy using the included 2-button footswitch. This combo amp is equipped a 12-inch Celestion Seventy 80 speakers that delivers 40 watts of raw tube power. That makes it powerful enough to perform with. When you don't need that much power, you can use the Pentode/Triode switch to cut the power output in half to just 20 watts.

Marshall DSL40CV: sounds and connectors

The Classic Gain channel offers both Clean and Crunch modes, while the Ultra Gain channel lets you choose between Lead1 and Lead2. As you can imagine, that gives you everything from crystal-clear cleans to high-gain heavy shredded sounds. Both channels have their own gain, volume and reverb controls. The shared 5-band EQ features knobs for adjusting the treble, middle and bass as well as a presence knob for the high tones and a resonance knob for the low tones. The DSL40CV also has a serial FX loop and an extra speaker output for connecting an additional cabinet.

Tube power!

The DSL40CV is a tube amplifier which means that your guitar signal passes through tubes before it is output. This has the effect of adding extra 'warmth' to your sound. Tubes are also susceptible to distortion, which is what gives your tone that lovely distorted sound when it's pushed. Tube amps are also known for their dynamic properties which respond to the subtle characteristics in your playing. That means you can turn a clean sound into a distorted one simply by increasing your attack. The reverse is also true, of course, or you can simply use the volume knob on your guitar.
