The Koch Classic SE 6 is a tube amp for guitarists who seek both simplicity and quality sound. Koch aimed to use as few components as possible in the SE6, while still allowing the amplifier to react extremely dynamically and sensitively to your playing style. The result is a straightforward 'single ended' 6-watt amp with one 12AX7 preamp tube and one EL84 power tube. A 6V6 tube is also included so that you can experiment with different sounds without the need to bias.

The Classic SE 6's two power tubes

With the EL84 tube, single coils produce sparkling cleans, while humbuckers sound darker. Overdrive is wonderfully controlled, with notable organic sustain. Replace the EL84 with the included 6V6, however, and the SE6 delivers a classic sound with plenty of gain and low noise. Trebles are rounded and transparent while bass notes sound fat and almost piano-like, while the overdrive channel gives a very musical distortion with a pleasant crunch or roar.

Shape the guitar sound

A handy function on the Classic SE is the Low-Power mode, which uses just one-third of the 6 watts available. This allows you to create a natural-sounding distortion even at low volume. Guitar sounds can be shaped further using Mid-boost, Bass-cut, and for extra rich and saturated tones, Gain and Gain Boost. Furthermore, the amplifier has a recording output with speaker emulation, and a line input for connecting an external preamp (like the Koch Pedaltone).
