Over 20 years after their big break, punk band The Offspring is still immensely popular. Contributing in no small way to that success are the right riffs played by Kevin John Wasserman, better known by his nickname Noodles. It took a little while, but in 2006 he finally got his own signature guitar: the Ibanez NDM1. It was based on the Ibanez Talman models and modified to the riffmeister's own preferences. This particular model, the NDSM4-SB, is the fourth incarnation of the guitar, which features a gorgeous sunburst finish.

Construction

The lightweight asymmetrical body is made of basswood, which is known for its balanced tonal properties. Like a true Ibanez, the NDM4 also features a multi-piece maple neck for increased stability. Furthermore, it's got a 22-fret rosewood fretboard that adds some warmth to the overall sound. Solid Ibanez tuners and a fixed Ibanez bridge, meanwhile, keep the guitar in tune for a long, long time, while the guitar's string-through construction ensures it offers oodles of sustain.

Fat single-coil sound

The Ibanez NDM4-SB is armed with two Ibanez Super 9 pickups, which are powerful P-90-style single-coils. They combine the brightness, clarity and bite of a single-coil with the warmth, punch and output of a humbucker. In short, it's the best of both worlds. Finally, using the 3-way pickup switch, you can switch between the sharp sound of the bridge pickup, the deeper sound of the neck pickup, or a combination of both for added twang. All in all, we'd say this guitar is pretty fly, especially in its price class!
