A pedalboard essential, the hand-built Empress Effects Distortion lays down everything from mild crunch to liquid distortion. To start, this neat true-bypass pedal serves up three different flavours of distortion (Crunch, Mild, and Lead), each framed by a super-tight low-end and defined by the natural response of the built-in compression, leaving you with the same kind of high-gain output you would get with an overdriven valve amplifier. The distortion breaking point also has a valve-amp edge to it that can be cleaned up using the volume pot of your guitar for excellent response. If you're looking for a solid lead sound, you're offered more than enough gain and just as much sustain as well as the in-depth tone shaping provided by a set of Treble, Bass, Gain, and Output controls.
