If you already work with Acid Movie Studio, you'll know that it allows you to create music tracks in no time by dragging loops and other sounds onto a timeline. Over the years, the audio editing software has acquired a loyal fan base, including both beginners and professional users. Sony hasn't been resting on its laurels, however, and is dedicated to keep developing and improving the package. With this upgrade edition of the Sony package you're able to keep your Acid Music Studio software up to date.

New in Sony Acid Music Studio 10

Provided your sound card or audio interface supports it, Acid allows you to make recordings with a staggering 24-bit/192kHz signal quality - the standard of professionals and a real benefit for high-grade mixing. This 10th edition of the audio editing software allows you to apply effect chains to individual audio events, which is ideal if you want to create radical shifts in timbre within a track. You could, for instance, alternate between clean vocals for the verses and a more lo-fi feel for the chorus. If you're accustomed to working on larger arrangements, you'll particularly appreciate the new ability to move groups of events as a single unit on the timeline. You can also use Acid to control softsynths (VSTi) - if you have them - and you can even create a drum key map in order to assign specific sounds to specific keys.

Acid is a fast and inspiring package if you're a fan of loops and beats. Once you've prepared your loops and other audio material using your preferred software, you can get to work in Acid to create some proper tunes. What should you do, though, if you're not able to create your own source material? First of all, don't panic! Sony has included a nice collection of loops - a staggering total of 3,000 - for you to work with. As soon as your music production is finished, Acid allows you to publish the results of your labour directly via Soundcloud - another great new function of this 10th edition of the Sony audio editing software.
