The Parisian family-owned company Vandoren has been making instrument reeds and mouthpieces since 1905. These Traditional reeds for Bb clarinet are therefore tried and trusted, and are now used all over the world! Their thin tip and relatively thick heart ensure an excellent response in all registers, making a soft attack possible with low as well as high tones. Whether you want to play staccato or legato, these reeds will deliver a full, clear sound. This box contains ten individually-packaged reeds.

Vandoren reeds: strength 1 to 5

Vandoren reeds come in various strengths, which are indicated by different numbers, from 1 to 5, in half steps. 1 is the thinnest and has the least strength, but is the easiest to make a tone with although the sound quality is somewhat compromised. 5 is the thickest reed, and as such, is much harder to create a tone with. Once the sound is created, on the other hand, it's a lot fuller and richer. So to sum up, the higher the number of the reed, the harder it is to play, but the fuller it sounds. This particular reed type has a strength of 2, which means it's relatively easy to play and therefore suitable for beginners as well as advanced players.
