The versatile AKG D12 VR is made specifically for recording bass drums in high quality. It is modelled after AKG´s first and very successful dynamic D12 microphone. The original AKG C414 transformer (which also stems from the ´70s), adds to the vintage character of this mic. The excellent AKG D12 VR with its large, thin diaphragm, is specialised in low frequencies.

Switchable phantom power and 4 sound types

Although the AKG D12VR is a dynamic microphone, it is equipped with phantom power. If this is turned off, the kick drum microphone guarantees a very natural, pure reproduction of the sound source. When the phantom power is turned on, you can choose from 3 sound types via a switch on the microphone: open kick, closed kick and vintage The microphone has a cardioid, and therefore fairly directional, pickup pattern.
